I was riding my Honda Sabre home from work one evening (if you're not familiar with the design, imagine a CBR or Ninja, without the fairng or body work, that you sit more upright on--or go look at my website for a photo of it). Anyway, I live out in a rural area and was on a long straight stretch of road when a rabbit came up out of the ditch. Ears laid back, going like a streak of $H!T. I thought something really big must be after him, and it was. Right after the rabbit (which I was following with my eyes) crossed the road, I felt a HUGE bump. It felt like I ran over a tree or something! I was doing about 50mph, and the front wheel came off the ground, followed by the back wheel, which threw the front wheel down hard, followed by the back wheel returning to the road with the same force. It wobbled for a little ways, but it quickly recovered (the bike did this on it's own--I was scared silly at the time). I stopped and inspected everything and found all to be well, so I decided to go back and see just what the hell it was that I had hit--thinking if it WAS a tree limb or similar, it needed to be removed. Well, it was then that I found out what had been chasing the rabbit--it was a very large bobcat (cousin to the lynx for those that have never heard of one before). He was sprawled right where I had hit him, broken back and all. I picked him up and put him in my backpack and headed for home. No, I didn't skin it and eat it.
